Global Voices / The World in Our City

Global Voices

Global Voices are volunteers who are currently living locally, but have roots in Southern countries (Africa, Asia and  Latin America). They are keen to share their knowledge and experience of life in other countries and cultures through supporting activities and workshops in schools and the local community.
The Harambee Centre is currently recruiting students and local residents who have experience of life in Southern countries as Global Voices. Global Voices can expect the following support and training:

  • An invitation to attend 2 training workshops per year which will enable volunteers to develop their skills in development education activities with children and young people.
  • Individual advice and support - from specialist staff at the Harambee Centre - in planning their activities with children
  • The opportunity to shadow Harambee's sessions in schools.
  • Free membership of the Harambee Centre which gives them access to over 1000 educational resources on global issues.
