The Harambee Centre has a vacancy for a Global Youth Worker. This post is part of a national project: Global Youth Action – and involves encouraging, inspiring and supporting young people taking action on global issues (for example environmental issues, social justice etc). The post holder would be working with 16-25yr olds - primarily through working with & expanding an existing youth group.
The Harambee Centre is a Development Education centre which promotes understanding and action on global issues. We provide opportunities for young people to understand more about how their everyday actions affect the world around them and how they can take action on global issues.
The worker would have access to a range of resources including an extensive library of youth work resources, and much audiovisual equipment (projector, video and stills cameras, digital sound recorder). Harambee is a member of Young Lives, an umbrella organisation for voluntary sector groups working with young people in Cambridgeshire & Peterborough.

Pay & conditions: £20858 FTE/pro rata - 14hrs a week. Evening work 1 day a week (for 2 hours) would expected in this role and occasional weekend work would be needed. The contract is until Mar 2010 in the first instance with renewal until Mar 2011 likely. Willingness to undergo an enhanced CRB check is essential.
