For Teachers and Trainee Teachers

Are you:

  • A Subject Teacher looking to increase the Global Dimension in your teaching?
  • A Citizenship or International Coordinator looking for exciting new ideas, resources and projects?
  • A Head Teacher thinking about how to fulfil Every Child Matters requirements in your school?
  • A trainee Teacher interested to try out exciting resources and interactive activities with your classes and colleagues?

If you answered yes to any of these question Harambee can help you in a variety of ways.

Global Voices:

if you are teaching about a particular country or perhaps are holding a multicultural or international day or week we can arrange for someone from that country to meet your class. Our international volunteers are trained to work with all Key Stages and they will run an interactive and participatory workshop which could provide a stimulus for related geography, literacy or art work.

Workshops:

we offer a variety of active and challenging workshops on topics such as Fairtrade and Trade Justice, Immigration and Refugees, Responses to Terrorism, Water Issues, Global Games, Challenging Perceptions of Africa, Introduction to Ghana and Climate Change.

Every Child Matters:

we can help you develop lesson plans and schemes of work to provide a global perspective to strands of Every Child Matters.

Sixth Form Conferences and Case Studies:

we run exciting and inspiring talks and workshops for Sixth Formers as part of Citizenship days. Subject Teachers may be interested in our Global Voices Case Studies that present classes with real life problems to solve and bring theory to life. See our projects and workshops tabs.

Resources:

books, photo packs, maps, games, objects from other countries (cultural artefacts?), story books, and posters for all subject areas. If your school is a member we can loan lend you a box of resources for a short period or you can come to the resource centre to browse and get guidance from our resources coordinator.

Training:

we have experience of delivering interactive training sessions for all staff, or smaller teams. We deliver Professional Development courses in partnership with the British Council.

Harambee's strength is working in partnership with teachers to provide engaging activities and resources that improve teaching and learning in the classroom. We can tailor workshops and activities to suit your needs.
